ST. LOUIS, MO August 1, 2017 – Engineered Corrosion Solutions LLC (ECS), the de facto standard in fire sprinkler corrosion control, is proud to announce that the ECS Protector line of nitrogen generators is now certified as a UL 508A Listed Control Panel. Underwriters Laboratories developed Approval Standard 508A to provide criteria for products utilizing industrial control panels operating from a voltage of 1000 volts or less. ECS nitrogen generators are now both FM approved and certified as a UL 508A listed control panel.

Pioneers In The Ul Listed Nitrogen Generator

ECS pioneered the use of nitrogen generators in fire sprinkler systems over eight years ago. Nitrogen generators provide pressurized supervisory nitrogen gas to the fire sprinkler system to prevent interior pipe corrosion related to oxidation of the steel piping material. Over the past several years the demand and industry acceptance of nitrogen generators for dry pipe and pre-action fire sprinkler systems has grown significantly as other methods of corrosion control have proven to be ineffective, hazardous, and cost prohibitive. ECS nitrogen generators are part of a patented nitrogen inerting system that provides complete oxygen removal within 14 days.

“The ECS Nitrogen Generator has always been the technology leader for nitrogen-based corrosion control in fire sprinkler systems and we are thrilled that we can now offer customers a solution approved by a global leader in certification and approval that assures a product has been objectively tested and conforms to the highest national and international standards,” said Jeff Kochelek, CEO of Engineered Corrosion Solutions.

In recognizing the value of third-party certification and approval, a diverse offering of ECS nitrogen generators meets the UL 508A listing and FM approval standard to satisfy customer demand for any application. Approved models include wall-mount nitrogen generators, a skid-mount nitrogen generator, and stand-alone nitrogen generators.
