FM Approved Nitrogen Generator Eliminates Corrosion in Fire Protection Systems
ST. LOUIS, MO February 4, 2016 – Engineered Corrosion Solutions LLC (ECS), the de facto standard in fire sprinkler corrosion control, is proud to announce that the ECS Protector line of nitrogen generators is now FM Approved. Factory Mutual developed Product Standard 1035 to provide approval criteria for nitrogen generators used in dry pipe and preaction fire protection systems. The ECS nitrogen generators are the first FM Approved Nitrogen Generator systems available to the fire sprinkler industry.
ECS pioneered the use of nitrogen generators in fire sprinkler systems over seven years ago. Nitrogen generators provide pressurized supervisory nitrogen gas to the fire sprinkler system to prevent interior pipe corrosion related to oxidation of the steel piping material. Over the past several years the demand and industry acceptance of nitrogen generators for dry pipe and preaction fire sprinkler systems has grown significantly as other methods of corrosion control have proven to be ineffective, hazardous, and cost prohibitive. ECS nitrogen generators are part of a patented nitrogen inerting system that provides complete oxygen removal within 14 days.

Approved models include a wall-mount nitrogen generator, skid-mount nitrogen generators, and stand-alone nitrogen generators.
